Earth Month Impact: Why We Donated to the Orca Network

Thank you to everyone who cast their vote for Earth month and helped choose Ocean Conservation 💓 Your voices made it clear our waters deeply matter - now more than ever.

I'm excited to share with you the Orca Network as the non-profit for this year's donation! I wouldn't have seen my first humpback whale at Point Defiance without all the amazing contributors to this platform.

The Orca Network protects whales and their habitats while connecting people through marine life education and advocacy. They are a Washington-based organization that is dedicated to:

  • Protecting endangered orcas and other marine mammals
  • Educating the public on issues like vessel noise and water pollution
  • Advocating for safer, cleaner ocean ecosystems

Why Ocean Conservation Matters

Our oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth’s surface and are home to an abundant and exotic web of life, including the most intelligent and sensitive creatures on the planet.

Orcas, often called “killer whales,” are apex predators and essential to marine ecosystems. The wellbeing of these beautiful creatures is a strong indicator of the ocean's health. Sadly, orcas in the Pacific Northwest have been critically endangered due to declining salmon populations, pollution, underwater noise, and habitat degradation.

Protecting marine life starts with protecting their environment. Every piece of plastic we don’t throw away, every water-saving choice we make, and every sustainable product we support helps shift the tide.

Simple ways you can help protect our oceans every day and keep the momentum going:

🌊 Use reusable shopping bags (keep one in the car or a foldable pocket tote in your purse!)

🌊 Reduce plastic waste by recycling and avoiding single-use containers

🌊 Set a timer to shorten showers and conserve water

🌊 Choose sustainable seafood or reduce consumption of overfished species

I can't say it enough - Thank you for supporting my small business so I may make a little ripple of good back to our communities. 🤗 Every product I make is grounded in reducing waste and crafting beautiful, intentional scents that tread lightly on the planet 🌎 Learn how sustainability shapes every part of my business.

With gratitude,
